Lauren Alesso was born in Lodi, New Jersey. She grew up always in search of an outlet for her creativity. This journey led her to receive a BA in Visual Arts from the College of the Holy Cross, during which time she had the opportunity to study for a year at the Academia di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy. She continued her education at the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution under Parsons School of Design receiving a Masters degree in the History of Design focused on 20th century European furniture and costume. In addition to training she received in Switzerland, Lauren returns periodically to Milan and New York City to stay current with the latest trends.
Ms. Alesso’s career began in Denver as a showroom sales manager and design consultant for a modern retail showroom in the prestigious Cherry Creek shopping District. Her passion for history led her to teach History of 20th Century Design at the Art Institute of Colorado but mostly shares her knowledge now at her own showroom with anyone who lends an open ear. Passion for her industry and community prompted her to take on a founding role in the transformation of a section of the Denver’s warehouse district into an eclectic neighborhood of businesses now known as Designorth.
